Leewell Intelligence (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Qingdao New Qianwan Container Terminal Co., Ltd. (QQCTN), has been awarded the First Prize in the 2024 Science and Technology Awards by the China Ports & Harbours Association (CPHA). The joint project, "Research and Application of Full Autonomous Key Technologies for Automated RMG," stood out from over 100 national submissions, setting a new benchmark for port automation upgrading through innovative technological breakthroughs and industrialization implementation.
State Certification Showcases Technical Strength
As one of the port industry’s most authoritative accolades, the CPHA Science and Technology Award celebrates innovations driving the intelligent and green transformation of ports. Leewell’s achievement highlights its leadership in fusing AI algorithms with port machinery—a milestone confirming its national-level expertise in smart port solutions.
Launch An All-out Assault to Tackle Key Industry Challenges
Traditional port machinery management has long grappled with industry challenges including inefficient manual inspections, delayed fault warnings, and coarse equipment lifecycle management. To address these issues, Leewell's R&D team, partnering with QQCTN, delved into the application of AI technology in port machinery management, transforming it into a proactive "health guardian" and "digital steward" for the equipment. By developing a fault prediction model, the system accurately identifies potential equipment failure types. This enables real-time monitoring and data analysis of the machinery's condition. The outcome has been a significant boost in inspection efficiency and the effective prevention of production halts caused by unexpected breakdowns.
Technical Highlights: AI Algorithms Driving Industry Upgrade
The project's core breakthrough lies in the deep integration of artificial intelligence technology with the entire lifecycle management of port machinery:
Intelligent Diagnostic Algorithms: By learning and analyzing multi-dimensional data (vibration, sound, etc.), the system achieves a fault recognition accuracy rate of 99.2% – a 40% improvement over traditional methods.
Predictive Maintenance System: It can provide early warnings for potential faults up to 72 hours in advance, leading to an over 80% reduction in unplanned downtime.
Full-Lifecycle Digital Twin: It can construct comprehensive equipment health profiles to optimize maintenance strategies, extending the service life of critical components by 30%. During R&D, the team accumulated and secured multiple intellectual property rights, establishing a self-developed and controllable technological system.
Economic Benefit: It can reduce equipment operation and maintenance costs by over 50%.

Deepening in a filed of Algorithms, Continuously Empowering the Industry
This award underscores Leewell’s decade-long commitment to port technology innovation. We will continue advancing the three-pillar strategy: unmanned operations, intelligent O&M, and data-driven decision-making—developing adaptive AI algorithms to accelerate the global transition from automation to true autonomy in ports.
